A Wexford autism charity and advocacy group, has expressed their “deepest thanks” to the team at Chadwicks Wexford who raised thousands of euro from a table quiz to support the local service.
Taking the initiative, Chadwicks Wexford hosted the quiz recently, at Bugler Doyles and raised €3,500 for the Cottage Autism Network (CAN).
CAN, a voluntary organisation, receives no core government funding and entirely on the generosity of local businesses and the public to keep their doors open.
“Every cent of this donation goes directly back into frontline activities for our children and teenagers” a spokesperson for the group said.
This funding from Chadwicks comes at a pivotal moment they move into an ambitious phase of growth for 2026. These funds have been earmarked to support two of their most vital projects.
Firstly, it will provide essential resources for weekly kids’ clubs and teen groups. These social hubs are the heart of CAN, offering a consistent, safe, and neuro-affirming space where members can build friendships and social skills through play and shared interests.
Secondly, the donation will help launch a brand-new summer soccer experience. For many of their members, standard sports camps are inaccessible. This program will provide the one to one and two to one professional support ratios required to ensure that every child, regardless of their support needs, can enjoy the game in a safe, inclusive environment.
“Whether it is funding a session at our Kids’ Club or providing a trained support worker for our soccer pitch, this money allows us to move forward with our 2026 roadmap,” they went on to say.
“It brings us one step closer to our goal of expanding our respite-support model and launching our Mobile Sensory Hub to serve the entire county. Partnerships like this are the lifeblood of CAN and are a vital step toward making Wexford the most inclusive and accessible county in Ireland.”
