Tipperary’s Stephen Rosney has become the third Irish player to win a Professional Darts Corporation tour card at this weekend’s UK Qualifying School.
The Nenagh man secured a two-year card from the order of merit having accumulated enough points from four days of qualifying in Milton Keynes.
He joins fellow first-time professionals Niall Culleton and Shane McGuirk on the circuit.
Rosney, who plays county darts for Offaly and captains the Republic of Ireland men’s team, beat Scott Mitchell, Adam Hunt and Danny Trueman in Sunday’s run to the last 16.
However, there was disappointment for Steve Lennon with the 2019 World Cup finalist narrowly missing out on an immediate return to the tour having lost his card after slipping down the rankings in the last two years.
Willie O’Connor from Limerick, Meath’s Keane Barry, Tyrone’s Mickey Mansell, Fermanagh’s Brendan Dolan, Derry’s Daryl Gurney and Josh Rock from Antrim are also on the PDC’s Pro Tour.
