People in Kerry should assess what cover is important to them when it comes to health insurance.
That’s the advice of Brian Turner, who is a senior lecturer in finance, specialising in health insurance – at UCC.
According to figures from the Health Insurance Authority, between 2022 and 2024, the cost of claims increased by 20% in Ireland.
Mr Turner says there are many reasons behind the rise in premiums, including a growing and aging population, advancements in healthcare, and treatment costs.
He recommends that people plan ahead and tailor their health insurance plan to their needs:
