Gráinne Seoige, who said she felt like “vomiting” with distress after an AI-generated pornographic image of her was circulated during her election campaign, has called for “urgent legislative reform” to protect others.

The broadcaster, who ran unsuccessfully for Fianna Fáil in Galway West in the 2024 general election, has written to the Justice Minister and Oireachtas members, appealing for “urgent action” to be taken against AI apps “enabling sexual abuse imagery”.
