The first trailer for The Hack, the upcoming ITV drama starring Toby Jones and David Tennant, has been released.

The series depicts the News International phone hacking scandal, in which News of the World was shut down after investigators found that employees had been involved in phone hacking, police bribery and exercising improper influence in the pursuit of stories.

Starring Jones as The Guardian editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger and Tennant as investigative journalist Nick Davies, the trailer gives viewers a taste of what to expect, with the latter delivering a voice-over.

The trailer also reveals glimpses of Davies’s investigation and the web of lies it uncovers, with scenes that suggest the danger it poses to those investigating allegations of phone hacking and corruption.
