Dom Taylor has been given a six-month ban after he failed a drugs test for cocaine and cannabis during the World Darts Championship.

Taylor was removed from the tournament on 19 December ahead of a second-round tie with Jonny Clayton after a random anti-doping procedure returned a positive result and he later apologised after he had also been given a suspension at the start of 2025.

A statement by the Darts Regulation Authority on Wednesday confirmed the length of the ban after a hearing on 7 January, with a disciplinary committee satisfied that Taylor’s ingestion of cocaine and cannabis took place outside of competition after he admitted to the breach.

“Accordingly, and taking into account all of the available evidence, the committee were satisfied that Mr Taylor’s ingestion of both cocaine and cannabis occurred out of competition and was not following the commencement of the World Championship on December 11 2025,” a statement read.

“Following on from this finding, the committee has determined that as this is Mr Taylor’s second offence, then under these rules, he must serve a six-month ban in line with 10.9 (a) and 10.9 (b) of UKAD Anti-Doping Rules 2021.”

Taylor forfeited his £25,000 prize money from his first-round triumph over Oskar Lukasiak and as a result of this finding will drop down the ranking list and lose his Tour card.
