MAHON (Née Shaughnessy) Mary. Gurteenboy, Kilbeacanty, Gort, Co. Galway and late of Aughnish, Kinvara, Co. Galway. Suddenly and unexpectedly, surrounded by her family, on the 13th of January, 2026.
Pre-deceased by her father Martin, brother Joe and by other much loved family members and many friends.
Mary will forever be in the hearts of her heartbroken family. Cherished and much loved wife of Fergus and adored mother of Niall, Shane, Fergal, Marion, Joseph and Stephen. Fondly remembered by her daughters-in-law Sinead, Samantha, Amy, son-in-law Noel and by Stephens fiancée Maria, a special grandmother to Isabelle, Esmay, Tiernan, Jacob, Donnacha, Dáire, Caoimhín and Éabha. Sadly missed by her loving mother Bridget, by her brother Raymond (Inagh) and by her sister Bridget Finnerty (Rinneen), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, lovely neighbours, many loyal friends and by the extended Mahon and Shaughnessy families.

Mary will lie in repose in Seomra Ciúin, within Gort Town Hall, Church Street, Gort, (H91 E0C8) on Friday evening, January 16th, from 5.30pm until 7pm. Private removal from her residence on Saturday January 17th with the funeral cortége arriving at St. Columba’s Church, Kilbeacanty (H91 DH68) for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Mary will be laid to rest afterwards in Rakerin cemetery. House private on Friday and Saturday. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her memory to Gort Cancer Support a charity very dear to Mary.
Mary’s family deeply appreciate your kindness, love and support at this time. We thank all who tended to Mary on the night of her sudden passing. Finally, a special word of thanks to our wonderful family, neighbours and friends for all they have done for us over these difficult days.
