Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street’s Shona Platt is set to make a risky plan in upcoming scenes, after the recent arrival of her half-sister Jodie Ramsey – introduced in the Corriedale crossover episode – has her feeling incredibly concerned.
We already know that the half-siblings will confront each other about their pasts and talk about their traumatic upbringings, with accusations flying. Further incidents – such as Jodie making a break for it when she sees Kit Green, and causing a scene at the house – leave Shona even more confused about what’s going on.
Following on from that, new spoilers for next Friday’s (23 January) episode reveal that Shona will confide in David at the hospital that she’s tempted to track down her dad.
Shona’s hope is that he will be able to provide some answers as to why Jodie is acting the way she is.

It’s a risky plan, as Jodie wouldn’t be too happy if she found out, and Shona might not even get the answers she’s looking for. Will she go through with it?
Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks is especially excited for the story to unfold, as she’s quite the fan of David and Shona as a couple, and has nothing but praise for the actors who play them.
“Shona and David are brilliant. Shona is such a relatable character and a very real character. She’s flawed and she’s made mistakes. We’ve seen her make mistakes in the present day,” Brooks said.
“So, you know, she’s certainly made mistakes in the past! We will get an insight into what her life was like pre-Coronation Street, and how her relationship with the family has impacted who she is as a character now.

“I think with Julia [Goulding] and Jack [P Shepherd] at the helm, they’re always a joy to watch. They play those nuances of those characters so well, and they’re just so brilliant.
“Taking the character of Jodie has really given us that insight into who Shona is as well, and it gives her a new dynamic because she’s always been embraced by the Platts and been part of that family and engulfed by them, but this has shown her own family. This is her flesh and blood.
“How does she react to that? How does she deal with that? And what lengths would she go to protect her sister?”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
