Facundo Buonanotte says it is the right time for him to join Leeds United, stating he only had eyes for the Whites this January.
Buonanotte was on the cusp of signing for Leeds in the summer before Chelsea made a late dive and snatched him under their noses. He endured a frustrating time at Stamford Bridge with only 45 minutes of Premier League action.
As a result, Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to terminate his loan at the Blues and sanction a switch to Elland Road for the rest of the season. The 21-year-old says he is delighted to have finally made it to West Yorkshire.
“I am very happy to be here,” he told LUTV. “I really wanted to come to Leeds instead of anywhere else. The time was right for me to come here to Leeds.
“I played with Brighton a few seasons ago and I said to my family, to my teammates, Leeds is one of the best teams in the Premier League for sure.
“First, I want to help Leeds. I need to do a good job here. And then, of course, if I have a chance to go to the World Cup, obviously I want to go.”
Asked to describe his style of play the versatile attacker – who will wear the number 40 – said: “I like to play on the line, score goals and play assist. I like to be between the lines and, of course, score.
“I want to show the fans my quality and how I can help the team stay in the Premier League. I am ready to play and I hope Saturday we can win.”
