Social media platform X has refused an invitation to appear before an Oireachtas Committee next month in a move that has been described as “deeply concerning” in the aftermath of senior X executives meeting with AI minister Niamh Smyth.
Ms Smyth said “concerns remain” regarding X’s AI tool Grok as a standalone app following her meeting with X representatives to discuss its response to the ongoing concerns that the tool was used to AI-generate deepfake sexualised images, including child sexual abuse material.
