NEED TO KNOW

  • Power Book IV: Force — a spinoff series of the hit crime drama Power — premiered in 2022, with Joseph Sikora reprising his role as Chicago kingpin Tommy Egan
  • On Jan. 16, the series wrapped up with the final episode of season 3
  • The ending offered fans clues about what could be next for the Power universe

Power Book IV: Force has come to an end — and that end was surprisingly happy.

The series finale of the Power spinoff aired on Jan. 16, wrapping up Tommy Egan’s (Joseph Sikora) violent campaign to be the drug lord of Chicago after the tragic losses he suffered in New York. Over three seasons, the Starz series chronicled his efforts to establish dominance in the city’s drug trade, balancing loyalty and betrayal alongside allies like Diamond Sampson (Isaac Keys) and his increasingly complicated relationship with his girlfriend, Mireya Garcia (Carmela Zumbado).

As the war for kingpin status heated up between Tommy and Jenard (Kris D. Lofton), fans braced themselves for the death of one of the franchise’s most iconic characters — something the actor has advised them to do since the show began.

“Tommy could die at any moment,” Sikora teased in a February 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Here’s everything to know about the Power Book IV: Force ending, including whether or not Tommy Egan survived it.

Warning: Power Book IV: Force season 3 spoilers ahead!

Following the tragic death of Diamond, tensions between Tommy and Jenard are higher than ever. After fending off a few unsuccessful hits, Tommy and Miguel (Manuel Eduardo Ramirez) get intel on where their rival gang is hiding out and start planning an ambush. Tommy even enlists the help of Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), the son of Tommy’s late pal, Ghost (Omari Hardwick).

Though Miguel is shot in the leg during the surprise attack, Tommy and his men come out on top, and Jenard’s team abandons him to work for Chicago’s new kingpin.

However, Jenard hasn’t called it quits just yet. The finale episode sees him pair up with Vic Flynn (Shane Harper), and they vow to someday take him down together.

Did Tommy survive?

Yes, despite all odds (and the sheer amount of people who wanted him dead), Tommy made it out alive by the series finale.

Though Tommy’s survival status is clear, one scene had fans speculating about another fan-favorite character’s fate: Ghost. Before Tariq’s arrival, Tommy talks on the phone, but it’s not clear who is on the other end.

“My only other thing was, ‘Hey, is there any way that Ghost is still alive?‘ ” Sikora told PEOPLE in January 2026. “I know that Courtney said no, but we didn’t see a funeral, really, and we didn’t see the body. So I was wondering, I was like, ‘Could that be the call?’ ”

Are Tommy and Mireya still together?

The fate of everyone’s favorite couple remains undetermined even after the final credits. Just before Tommy’s last showdown, he finds a note from Mireya that says she’s left town to be with her family so he can take care of business without worrying about her safety.

Though Tommy and her brother, Miguel, assume that Mireya went to Mexico, her real destination was never confirmed. Showrunner Gary Lennon told TV Line in January 2026 that he wanted Tommy’s partner to wrap up their romantic story with “a boss move.”

“Him telling her to get out of town or him making her get out of town takes away all of her agency,” he said. “So I came up with the idea of letting her do that. And the way Joseph comes into the apartment and finds the letter and reads it, it is full of emotion and, and he knew he’s with the right woman, cause that’s the girl I wanna be with, right?”

Is Tommy returning to New York?

In the final moments of Power Book IV: Force, Tommy gives fans a peek into where he might go next. After Tariq dubs him the “King of Chicago,” he tells the drug lord that he’s about to head back to New York City — and confesses that he only came to the Windy City to see if Tommy would come with him.

After discussing his legacy and what it would be like to watch his child grow up in his hometown, Tariq asks Tommy if he’s game to “start some new s—.” To which Tommy responds: “Hell yeah, I’m ready.”

Though nothing has been confirmed, Sikora told PEOPLE that he remained “cautiously optimistic of another chapter of Tommy.” He also didn’t shut down fan theories that Tommy took Tariq up on his offer and is headed to New York.

“Whether it’s filmed or not, I think that it’s the next chapter,” he said. “But if [not], I think that is, at least in our minds, that’s the next chapter … Like I always say, as long as Gary Lennon is writing Tommy, I’d love to keep playing him.”

Will there be a Power Book IV: Force spinoff?

At least one more show will join the Power universe. In March 2024, a prequel series titled Power: Origins, which will tell Tommy and Ghost’s origin story, was greenlit. Charlie Mann and Spence Moore II were cast as the younger versions of Tommy and Ghost, respectively.

“I’m glad they cast somebody better looking than me for me,” Sikora joked to PEOPLE in 2026. “But Tommy’s a tough character, Tommy’s an interestingly calibrated character, so I can’t wait to see what Charlie does with him.”

While there isn’t a confirmed spinoff that sees Sikora reprising the iconic role, Lennon told TV Line that he doesn’t feel “done writing Tommy Egan’s character” and that “there’s so much more to tell.”

Deadline reported in June 2025 that a writers’ room for a series titled Power: Legacy was expected to open soon. When asked about the project’s status in January 2026, Lennon was coy about details but told Deadline that his “fantasy” was to develop a movie about Tommy.

“Something for the big screen, like a proper film,” Sikora added, noting that it would happen after Legacy. “We’re in the process of writing it. Whether it gets made, only time will tell.”
