Irish publicans are facing a squeeze on profits as higher labour, insurance and entertainment costs are compounded by the latest price hike for Guinness.
Many pub owners remain upbeat about the trade’s long-term prospects despite rising costs. Publicans said footfall around Dublin is recovering, while those outside the capital are doing more to engage locals and promote their establishments as community centres.
