At least seven Irish local authorities are reviewing how they use X, while several others have reduced activity, shifted towards alternative platforms or gone dormant entirely.

Analysis by the Irish Independent has found that although only a minority of local authorities across Ireland cite emerging AI-related concerns – including issues linked to X’s Grok chatbot – most say their use of the platform is now under routine or strategic reassessment.
