St Mary’s edged out Clongowes Wood after a super-physical Leinster Schools Senior Cup first-round tie in a raucous atmosphere at Energia Park on Wednesday afternoon.
A magnificent multi-phase attack, involving Joe Christle and a burst from wing Christopher Maguire, was completed by McGauran, David Kenny and try-scorer Sean Thornton for Paul Neary to convert in the eighth minute.
