“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” rode its way to an impressive start in the ratings.
The “Game of Thrones” prequel has pulled in 6.7 million viewers across all platforms in its first three days of availability. Per HBO, that makes it one of the top three series launches in the history of HBO Max.
For comparison, Season 2 of the Emmy-winning medical drama “The Pitt” nabbed 5.4 million viewers over three days when it premiered earlier in January, while the Season 4 premiere of “Industry” pulled 800,000 viewers in the same time frame.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has already been renewed for a second season at HBO. It is one of two “Game of Thrones” prequels currently at HBO alongside “House of the Dragon.” The third season of that show is expected to launch later this year.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is based on George R.R. Martin’s novella series “Tales of Dunk and Egg.” Peter Claffey stars as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, with Dexter Sol Ansell as his diminutive squire Egg. The cast of the series also includes: Daniel Ings, Bertie Carvel, Danny Webb, Sam Spruell, Shaun Thomas, Finn Bennett, Edward Ashley, Tanzyn Crawford, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Daniel Monks
Martin co-created the series with Ira Parker. Both serve as executive producers, with Parker also serving as showrunner. Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis executive produce, with Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith directing. Season 1 will consist of six episodes.
