Is there any end to our fetish for the 1990s? It began in the early 2010s – in keeping with a much popularised idea that nostalgia comes in 20-year cycles – but is showing no sign of abating. It’s there in everything – from fashion to TV and, of course, music.

The most talked-of gigs of last year – the Oasis comeback shows at Croke Park – were almost entirely comprised of their mid-’90s albums. Returning ’90s heroes Pulp and My Bloody Valentine played eagerly anticipated Irish shows, too. And the evergreen Robbie Williams also entertained the masses at GAA HQ.
