Numerous owners of Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro XL have been complaining about serious problems that have rendered WiFi, Bluetooth, the cameras and even the LED flashlight non-functional. An update to Google Play services might be responsible.
Software updates are usually intended to fix bugs, but some patches introduce new issues instead. Since last week, users of certain Google Pixel smartphones have been complaining about a particularly serious case of a faulty update. These complaints can be found on Reddit and in the Google Support Forum. Apparently, mainly the Google Pixel 10 and the Google Pixel 10 Pro (XL) are affected by these issues, although some users of older Pixel phones have also reported similar problems.
The software update in question apparently causes four issues. WiFi and Bluetooth can no longer establish a connection, the cameras can no longer be used, and the LED flashlight can no longer be turned on because the system indicates that it is already switched on. Not every Pixel smartphone is affected by all these problems. Either way, these issues reportedly cannot be fixed by restarting the device or by booting into safe mode. At least one user has reset an affected Pixel smartphone to factory settings, which did not solve these issues either.
Google community member Julas23 traced the problem to Google Play Services. Deleting or disabling Google Play Services as well as the Fitbit app reportedly resolved the issue. However, smartphones cannot access Google apps or the Google Play Store without Google Play Services. Therefore, this is not a practical long-term solution. Google has confirmed and is aware of the problem, but the company has not announced a timeline for an update that will fix these software hiccups.
