An opening date has been revealed for an art gallery at the site of a former bank.
Scaffolding has been put up at the former Halifax site at 11 and 12 High Street, Stamford, as it is being transformed to house Clarendon Fine Art.
The business, founded by Helen Swaby 20 years ago, has more than 90 galleries across the UK and internationally, with Stamford being the firm’s first location in Lincolnshire.

Helen said she wanted to create a more inspiring and enjoyable way to discover and buy art, offering it for everyone – from seasoned collectors to newcomers visiting a gallery for the first time.
She said: “Stamford is a town with such charm and character and its beautiful architecture, independent spirit and strong mix of established brands and independent businesses make it a fabulous destination and the perfect setting for Clarendon.
“We are looking forward to becoming part of that vibrant community and welcoming people into the gallery to explore our wonderful artwork and meet our team.”
The gallery is set to open next month
Clarendon’s portfolio includes modern and contemporary art, featuring original paintings, limited editions and sculptures.
The Stamford gallery will introduce new artwork regularly throughout the season and will offer an ‘engaging programme of exhibitions and events’.
The gallery is expected to open in February, but no exact date has yet been set.
Further details, including opening celebrations and event announcements, will be shared soon, added a spokesperson for the firm.
Stamford’s and Spalding’s Halifax branches closed in 2024 and were among 22 other branches axed by parent company Lloyds Banking Group.
It comes months after a Gladwell and Patterson art gallery opened in the former HSBC branch on the corner of the High Street.
