A guessing game went viral online and at Kai Tak Stadium during Blackpink’s three concerts in Hong Kong, with two-dish rice and other street food such as egg tarts and pineapple buns among the top items that fans speculated the lead singer of the K-pop girl group would eat on stage.
In the end, it was signature street food items such as egg waffles, Hong Kong-style milk tea and curry fish balls that made surprise appearances at the concerts, with fans and residents delighted by the group’s embrace of local food culture.
Over three nights of Blackpink’s final world tour shows at the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium this past weekend, concertgoers eagerly speculated about what the band’s lead singer, Rosé, would eat on her way to the stage before performing her solo segment.
“[I’m] dying with laughter. Everyone was guessing what Rosé would eat, and I heard someone behind me say ‘two-dish rice’,” social media user ‘yamefung’ posted.
The singer’s choice of local snack became a highlight of the group’s brief stay in Hong Kong, with residents making guesses ahead of each concert.
Classic Hong Kong favourites such as egg tarts, pineapple buns and siu mai dominated online discussions, while others suggested viral hits like the meat patty from the bing sutt, or cafe, Tai Bo in Yuen Long.
