HMD has officially launched its first solo-branded smartwatches, the Watch X1 and Watch P1.

While the company has built a reputation for its smartphones, these two watch releases—arriving initially in emerging markets—represent a cautious first foray into wearables.

As with most ultra-budget smartwatches, this pairing prioritizes basic tracking and battery life while sacrificing smart features and premium materials.

HMD indicates that both devices offer more than 700 sport modes, heart rate monitoring, and sleep tracking. However, they stop short of advanced smartwatch features such as GPS or NFC, meaning users will need to stay tethered to their smartphones for outdoor tracking and payments.

The differences between Watch X1 and Watch P1

The Watch X1 is the more premium of the two, featuring a 1.43‑inch circular AMOLED display with a crisp 466 × 466 resolution and peak brightness of 600 nits.

It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and promises up to five days of battery life. Alongside its wellness features, the X1 includes hydration and inactivity reminders, and buyers can choose from finishes including Gray Green, Black, Gray Metallic, and Silver Leather.

Meanwhile, the Watch P1 (above) takes a budget‑friendly approach. It comes with a larger 1.83‑inch rectangular LCD display, though at a lower resolution of 284 × 240 and brightness capped at 550 nits.

Its IP67 rating offers decent protection against dust and splashes, but it is not suitable for swimming. Battery life is rated at up to four days, and it retains the same 700 sport modes and sleep monitoring as the X1. The P1 will be available in Black and Silver.

The HMD Watch P1 is already on sale in Southeast Asian markets such as the Philippines, with the duo also set to be available in India soon. At the time of writing, though, any plans for a further rollout are unknown.
