A woman in her 60s has died following a collision involving a truck in Dublin this afternoon.

The incident took place at the junction of Church Road and Bridge Street in Swords shortly before 12.30pm.

The woman, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown and a postmortem is due to be carried out.

A technical examination of the scene is being carried out by gardaí. The road remains closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses of the collision to contact them.

In particular, gardaí have said they are seeking assistance from the driver of a small, silver hatchback car that was not involved in the collision, but was travelling behind the truck at the time along Church Road, before turning left onto the Rathbeale Road, travelling away from Swords.

Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Church Road and Bridge Street in Swords between 12.10pm and 12.40pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing, a spokesperson said.
