The Pride Gym is one of 10 gyms who made the final of the T&A’s Best Gym 2026 competition.
Readers were invited to share their favourite place in the Bradford district for a workout.
Nominations were whittled down to 10 and, with voting now open, the T&A is taking a closer look at each of the finalists.
‘Focus on community, support and cleanliness’
One of the owners at the Pride Gym, Terry Holt, discovered a love for the gym and fitness after leaving the military.
“As a regular gym goer I felt there was so much missing from gyms in the area,” he told the T&A.
“I wanted to bring a high quality space but with a focus on community, support and cleanliness.
“We’ve since grown so much and provide services to suit anyone from complete beginners to advanced, with no egos and everyone following the rules so that we can work against the stereotype of a gym for people.”

Mix of ages at the gym
The gym opened seven years ago in December 2018.
Terry said: “We’re very well known about the speciality of equipment and investment made but for us the special feel comes from how we make people feel when they’re a member and our friend.
“Our purpose is to help people live better, stronger, healthier and longer so everything we do is about them and making their experience 10/10 every time.
“The atmosphere is unmatched and to see a 60 plus year old lady coming in for a class chatting to a 25 year old bodybuilder for example isn’t uncommon.

“We maintain strong rules on equality and standards and members adhere to these without fail meaning they make the experience for each other much better.
“Being nominated is testament to both staff and members for their dedication and amazing approach to fitness and training.
“The pride (mind the pun) is huge, not just for me as an owner of the gym but, as their colleague and friend, that their endless dedication to doing good for members is recognised.

Community everything at this gym
“We know a lot of gyms love their community but ours really is second to none, from social group having nights out, breakfasts and brunches to fundraising, helping each other outside of the gym and welcoming new members they really are amazing.
“The staff go a long way to know their names, even with a relatively high membership base we know the members, the gym has become not a chore but something to look forward to and a social occasion.”
Don’t miss out on your chance to shout up for your favourite gym. People can vote by filling in the form, which can be found in the T&A newspaper until February 1.
The winner is set to be announced on February 10.
