The debate around the lack of censorship clearance for Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, is becoming more intense, with the leak of a letter from a Censor Board representative to the film’s producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions. According to the letter, dated December 22, 2025, the board initially decided to grant a U/A 16+ certificate for Jana Nayagan, calling it “suitable for Unrestricted Public Exhibition”, after its examining committee has viewed the film. The letter further states that audiences should decide whether or not to take those aged below 16 years to the theatres for a screening of the film, and that the makers should apply the cuts that the board suggested to it. “You are accordingly requested to carry out the given excisions / modifications, so that the film may be sanctioned for unrestricted public exhibition, after verification that the excisions are in order,” the letter added.
