Ahaan Panday recalled worked on the softness and masculinity of his character Krish Kapoor in Saiyaara
Ahaan Panday made an impressive Bollywood debut with his film, Saiyaara, which was released in theatres in July last year. Helmed by Mohit Suri and co-starring Aneet Padda, the film went on to break box office records. Ahaan, who earned widespread praise for his performance, pulled out all stops to prep for his role, Krish Kapoor, in the film. In a recent interview, he recalled that from the very first time he read the script, he realised his character required a sense of softness, particularly in today’s film landscape dominated by loud masculinity.
Ahaan Panday On Prepping For His Saiyaara Role
In an interview with Grazia India, Ahaan recalled, “I had a diary where I wrote extensively about Krish and how I wanted him to be, things about him and what he was feeling before scenes. There was this one thing written in bold letters on top of it: The softness and masculinity for Krish.”
He further added, “When I read the script, I noticed there was no softness. There was more of a duality and how this man changes for her, so I was clear that in the second half, I’ve to bring that softness and vulnerability because it was missing.”
Ahaan then praised director Mohit Suri for giving the cast the freedom to explore their roles. “He gave us the freedom and the opportunity. Sometimes, it felt like it was his debut again because he had that much hunger and passion for the set and the film,” he said.
