In Belleville, the Senators are more than a hockey team — they are committed community partners helping strengthen local healthcare for families across the region.

This past fall, the Belleville Senators and the Belleville General Hospital Foundation (BGHF) partnered on several initiatives supporting critical hospital priorities, demonstrating how sport and community can come together to make a meaningful difference close to home.

Together, these efforts supported multiple areas of care at Belleville General Hospital, including expansion of the Fracture Clinic, improvements to breast imaging, and enhanced resources for local cancer care.

In October, the Senators dedicated a portion of ticket proceeds and 50/50 revenue from a pre-season weekend at CAA Arena toward the hospital’s Fracture Clinic expansion, raising $10,200. The clinic provides specialized care for patients recovering from injuries as well as those undergoing orthopaedic surgeries and joint replacements to restore mobility and quality of life.

The partnership continued in November as the Senators hosted the Game On Gala at CAA Arena, bringing the community together for an evening of games, entertainment, and generosity in support of a new mammography machine for the hospital.

Later that month, the organization’s impact extended directly to patients during Hockey Fights Cancer Weekend, supporting the hospital’s Cancer Clinic. Ahead of the games, Senators players visited patients receiving treatment, and during the weekend a Cancer Clinic staff member and a recent cancer patient were welcomed to centre ice for the ceremonial puck drop. Fundraising activities including Chuck-a-Puck, warm-up puck sales, and a Hockey Fights Cancer jersey auction raised $8,237.04 in support of cancer care at BGH.

In total, the Senators’ fall initiatives contributed $18,437.04 toward healthcare improvements at Belleville General Hospital.

“Being part of this community means showing up both on and off the ice,” said John Mathers, VP of Business Operations with the Belleville Senators. “We’re proud to partner with the Belleville General Hospital Foundation to support local healthcare and the patients and families who rely on it every day. Our players, staff, and fans are always eager to help make a difference in the community we call home.”

“The Belleville Senators continue to show what it means to truly be part of this community,” said Amanda Grydziuszko of Belleville General Hospital Foundation. “Their support goes far beyond the rink. It directly impacts patients and families who rely on care close to home, and we are incredibly grateful for their partnership and commitment to our hospital.”

The Belleville General Hospital Foundation extends sincere thanks to the Senators organization, players, staff, volunteers, and fans whose generosity continues to make a meaningful difference for patients and healthcare teams across the region.
