Actor Abhay Verma is riding high on excitement as he prepares to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in the latter’s much-anticipated action-drama King. The film, which is already one of the most talked-about projects in Bollywood, marks a significant milestone in Abhay’s growing career, and the actor has opened up about what the experience of meeting and working alongside Shah Rukh Khan meant to him.

Speaking about his admiration for the superstar, Abhay did not hold back on his emotions. “He is obviously the ‘King’. And honestly, I admire him not just as an actor, but as a teacher. He represents the best of our youth, someone we can look up to. I have always placed his work on a pedestal, and for me, he holds the stature of a god. I respect him deeply”, he told ABP News.
Recalling his initial nervousness before meeting Shah Rukh Khan, Abhay shared how the moment surpassed all expectations. “In the beginning, I had this jittery feeling thinking, ‘I hope one day Shah Rukh sir knows that a guy named Abhay Varma exists.’ At the very least, I wanted him to know my name or maybe just see me once. But when I actually met him, when he hugged me and asked how I was, and asked if I travelled comfortably, it felt like I had reached my personal retirement stage, I couldn’t have asked for more from God.”
What stayed with Abhay the most was Shah Rukh Khan’s warmth and humility. “When I would go back to my hotel, then it used to feel like as if I had met Shah Rukh Khan. But when I was sitting with him, talking to him, he never made you feel like he’s Shah Rukh Khan. He made it feel like you were meeting a friend.”
Directed as a large-scale action drama, King is expected to release theatrically on December 24, 2026. The film also marks the big-screen debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, and features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal, among others.
Meanwhile, Abhay Verma is also gearing up for the release of Laikey Laikaa, where he will be seen sharing screen space with Rasha Thadani. With King on the horizon, the actor appears set for a defining phase in his career—one that began with a dream and a meeting he says felt nothing short of divine.
