A mum and daughter have been pushing themselves to the limit to secure the future of a crucial group for adults with complex disabilities.
Roseanna Mackay and her ten-year-old daughter Molly Sharman of Spalding, are taking on the challenge of doing 100 burpees each day throughtout January to raise money for an important cause.

Roseanna, who is a personal trainer and director and instructor of Adults Move Lincolnshire, said: “I was fairly fit and active before I started the challenge but your body isn’t conditioned to do something this extreme – it is quite tricky.
“It’s hard, not just physically but mentally because in the evenings you just want to cosy up and watch the tv but it will be worth it.
“We’ve had lots of support which is so lovely to see.”

The full-body, high-intensity exercise combines a squat, plank, push-up (optional) and jump.
All of the money raised from the challenge will be put towards the Adults Move Sensory Dance classes in Spalding for individuals with complex disabilities.
The weekly sessions offer engaging and accessible, creative movement that promotes self expression, physical activity and social interactions.

It is a safe space for adults to enjoy exercise through sensory dance and continues to be well attended by the members of the community.
The team at Adults Move Lincolnshire are keen to raise as much self-funded money as they can, to keep these sessions running and create further opportunities throughout South Holland to launch more classes.
Roseanna added: “Inclusive is the best way to describe Adults Move because we want to include absolutely everybody, no matter where they are from or their abilities.

“We’re always going to be that support network for people.
“If we were able to raise our target amount or more than we needed for these specific topics, we would expand our activities into the wider area to reach more people.
“Funding is a difficult thing to get for a lot of people and organisations, so we are trying to do it ourselves – its our biggest barrier.”
Every day of the challenge Roseanna has shared her progress with supporters on Facebook live videos – where people join the online platform and cheer her on.

Her daughter, Molly, has also showed her support by taking part in the challenge alongside her.
“She absolutely loves it and is sometimes upset when she isn’t able to do it with me”, Roseanna added.
“I’m trying to help my body by warming up beforehand and stretching afterwards.”

The team at Adults Move Lincolnshire are hoping to organise more fundraising events throughout the year, including ‘Move-Fest’ in the summer for families.
It is hoped the additional funds will boost contributions they currently receive through grants, and solidify the future of vital events for the community.
