The President of Ireland Catherine Connolly has told an event in Ballybunion that she would love to live here in Kerry.

She was speaking at ‘What if We Were Brilliant’, a celebration event to mark the culmination of a community-led, climate action initiative by the Brilliant Ballybunion group.

Over the last two years, the initiative has focused on growing food, being creative, and protecting nature, and was funded through the Creative Climate Action Fund.

500 people packed into a sold-out Tínteán Theatre in Ballybunion for the event, during which the President and Minister Patrick O’Donovan were presented with a book and reflective learning brief by the group.

Attendees were treated to music, short films, and a panel discussion about the project, which inspired President Catherine Connolly to make this remark:

Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications, Media and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, said the world would be a far better place if everyone did their bit like the Brilliant Ballybunion group.
