Derry hosts Tyrone in an all-Ulster Division Two affair, as Ciarán Meenagh and Malachy O’Rourke’s sides go head to head for their first win of the campaign.

Tyrone were held to a draw against the Lilywhites of Kildare at home in the first round, with Ethan Jordan claiming the man of the match award after scoring 1-9 on his National Football League debut.

Derry fell to Meath at a soaked Croke Park in what was the first competitive match of Ciarán Meenagh’s reign. The Oak Leafers struggled against the Leinster SFC finalists, who benefited from Jack Flynn’s impressive shooting at GAA HQ.

The last time these two played each other was in last year’s National Football League Division One, when Malachy O’Rourke started his Healy Park tenure with a win and started Padddy Tally down a path that would end with him leaving the Derry hotseat.

Last season, these two Ulster powerhouses were relegated from Division One.

Tyrone only missed out on a head-to-head record with neighbours Armagh, however, Derry were struggling from the beginning, only managing a home draw with Galway across Paddy Tally’s first and only league campaign in charge.
