WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) has renamed its neuroscience institute after Michael Jordan’s mother a day before the third anniversary of the center.
On Saturday morning, people gathered to celebrate the renaming of the institute. In November, Michael Jordan donated $10 million to Novant Health in honor of his mother, Deloris Jordan.
In recognition of the donation, the institute was renamed the Deloris P. Jordan Institute.
“I speak for all of neurosciences when I say how humbled we are to have our neuroscience institute named the Deloris P. Jordan Neuroscience Institute. We will strive to bring excellent service to our community and beyond, and to continue our mission and vision to build a neuroscience institute worthy of her name,” Jefferey Beecher, director of neurosciences for NHRMC, said.
Deloris Jordan spoke at the event, expressing her passion for accessible healthcare and how she believes the partnership with Novant Health will help reach those in need.
“Everybody should have an opportunity for good heath and education,” Jordan said.
