The Nile crocodile is Africa’s largest crocodilian, growing up to six metres in length and, in some cases, weighing more than half a tonne.

These enormous ambush predators live in rivers and freshwater wetlands, where they feed on a range of prey, from fish, frogs and crabs, to wildebeest, antelope, zebras, birds and even hippos.

Nile crocodiles can be found throughout sub-Saharan Africa, including in Tanzania. This astonishing footage shows two adults fighting in a river in Serengeti National Park, a vast landscape of savannah plains, rivers and rocky outcrops in the north of the country.
