Police in Sussex are looking to identify a man in connection with their enquiries following reports of the rape of a teenage boy last Friday.
Officers were alerted to an alleged rape at an address in the St Leonards area shortly after 11.30pm on January 30.
The victim, who is a 17-year-old boy, was reportedly approached by a man at a bus stop near an Asda store in Battle Road. It is reported that the suspect and the victim then walked together in the direction of Lidl in Bohemia Road.
The suspect is described as a white male aged around 40 years old. He is bald, with a goatee and was wearing glasses at the time.
Investigators have released a still from CCTV footage in the hope of identifying the man, while the victim continues to receive specialist support amid the police probe.
Detective Inspector Barry Chandler said: “A thorough investigation is underway with officers continuing to carry out extensive enquiries to establish any further information, and potential witnesses.
“If you recognise this man or were in the vicinity of Asda in Battle Road, or Lidl in Bohemia Road, on the night of 30 January and have any information to assist this investigation, please report it to us. Any information, no matter how small could be crucial to this investigation.
“We recognise the concern this report may cause and would like to reassure the community that public safety is our top priority. Officers will be patrolling the area and there will continue to be an increased police presence as the investigation progresses.”
