Gardaí in Co. Meath have paid tribute to Kells serving Garda Martin Reilly following his sudden passing this week.

Garda Martin Reilly was originally from Aughnacliffe in Co. Longford and was living in Loch Gowna, Co. Cavan.

He joined An Garda Síochána in 2017 and was initially stationed in Navan before transferring to Kells in October 2019 where he was attached to Unit D.

In a post on social media, the force said they “are deeply saddened by the death of our dear colleague”.

The post read: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Martin’s partner Donna, his family and his friends at this sad time.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

Martin will be sadly missed by his fiancée and childhood sweetheart Donna (Heslin), his beloved parents Paddy and Maura, sister Linda and her husband Sean, brother Cathal and his partner Gemma, his granny Mary McEvoy, his nephew and nieces, Aoibhinn, Aaron, Freya and Isla his god-daughter, his father-in-law Frank and mother-in-law Ann.

He will also be missed by uncles, aunts, relatives, neighbours, many friends and his work colleagues in An Garda Síochána.

Martin’s funeral will be held on Sunday, August, 31 at St. Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe, Co. Longford at 2:00pm.
