Two Letterkenny designers are on a high as their Daniel O’Donnell-inspired creation goes viral.
Twin sisters Mirren and Brodie McFeely of Cúpla designs created the ‘Daniel’ dress in homage to the ‘King of Donegal’.
Now it’s on its way to cult status after CMAT wore it in her new music video AND wore it on stage at Belfast Vital.
Singer-songwriter CMAT, from Meath, took a fancy to the dress when filming for ‘When A Good Man Cries’ in Letterkenny. Her ensembles were selected by stylist Katie-Ruby McLaughlin Robinson, also from Letterkenny.
A large number of talented people from Donegal were involved in CMAT’s new video, including the director Eilís Doherty, lighting professional Emmet Toner, and production runners Amy Kinsella, Aggie Doherty, and Áine Gillespie.
When filming wrapped, Katie told the McFeely sisters that CMAT had fallen in love with the dress.
“We made it a mission to make one for her,” Mirren tells Donegal Daily. “The stars aligned that we were in Belfast yesterday and we managed to get on the guest list for CMAT’s gig in the Oh Yeah Centre. She was buzzing to get it.”
“We are so thankful to Katie because she is the main reason we got the gig.”
CMAT proudly wore the dress while supporting Sam Fender at Belfast Vital last night, and again today in Dublin to launch her new album, Euro Country.
“I can’t get over it, it has travelled about the place,” says Mirren.

The daughters of Anthony and Bernie McFeely, Mirren and Brodie’s ‘Cúpla’ brand has been growing for the past year.
Both Ulster University graduates, Mirren has a degree in Graphic Design, while Brodie has a degree in Fashion and Textiles.
Mirren was awarded a Graduate in Residence in her field for 24/25 at Belfast School of Art, which is when the ‘Greetings from Donegal’ clothing collection was born.
Featuring a Banba’s Crown skirt, a Suckin’ Diesel tank, and a sweater inspired by The Cottage Bar, the collection is a celebration of Donegal heritage, rooted in nostalgia but not afraid to poke fun at itself. The Daniel dress in the collection was inspired by the Harry Gordon Bob Dylan paper dress.

The CMAT exposure has people asking one question: where can I get one?
Currently, only two of the unique dresses exist, one for Mirren’s university project and CMAT’s.
While the photo is credited to Alamy images, the sisters’ main goal is to secure the blessing of Daniel O’Donnell himself to produce more of the now-famous dress.
“We are not sure if he’s seen the dress yet, we’ve emailed his team, but you never know,” Mirren said.
“Hopefully in the future, if we get talking to him, we’ll be able to make more.”
