After many successful years serving as a vibrant hub of local food, craft and community spirit, Holycross Village Market has announced it will no longer continue operations.
The market, which became a much-loved fixture in the village calendar, drew together traders, customers, musicians and volunteers each week, creating a welcoming space centred on local produce, handmade goods and live entertainment. Its organisers confirmed the closure this week, describing the decision as a sad but reflective moment.
In a statement, the market team expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to its success over the years. They paid tribute to the traders who brought their products, the musicians who provided the soundtrack to busy Saturdays, the volunteers who supported the event behind the scenes, and the loyal customers who returned week after week.
Organisers said the market had been “a special part of the village,” offering more than just shopping, it provided connection, conversation and a strong sense of local identity.

They added that it had been a privilege to host so many memorable Saturdays filled with community warmth and support, and extended their gratitude to all who helped shape the market’s story.
While the stalls will no longer line the village square, many say the friendships, partnerships and traditions built through the market will continue to be felt throughout Holycross for years to come.
