There are some social welfare changes on the way next month.
There is good news for recipients of the Working Family Payment and a social welfare date change on the way.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Bank holiday
Social welfare payments due on the St. Patrick’s Day bank holiday, Tuesday March 17, will be paid early, with payments expected to arrive by Monday, March 16.
Working Family Payment
In March 2026, the Working Family Payment will become a qualifying payment for Fuel Allowance. The payment will be backdated to January 2026 if you meet the qualifying conditions.
Looking ahead to April
Looking ahead to April, Fuel Allowance recipients should note that the final payment of the 2025/26 Fuel Allowance season will be issued during the week beginning April 6. The payment will resume in late September.
