Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have enjoyed a low-key friendship with Hugh Jackman that dates back several years.
“There’s always been mutual respect there,” a source tells Globe. “He publicly backed them when they stepped away from royal life, calling them courageous, and that didn’t go unnoticed.”
Which is why, the couple has turned to the Tony winner, 57, and his former Music Man costar, girlfriend Sutton Foster, 50, for tips on their next business venture.
“Meghan has her eye on producing a Broadway show, with Harry as her partner, and she’s turned to Hugh and Sutton for advice,” reveals the source. “Apparently, they have been very encouraging and it’s got Meghan very excited.”
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, wouldn’t pen the script herself, notes the source. “She wants to hire writers to create an original script, so that’s step one.”

Breaking into Broadway might also require another key move: finding a home base in New York City.
“[Meghan’s] still drawn to the East Coast and loves the idea of having a place in Manhattan,” shares the source. “Most of her friends are bicoastal and she feels like she and Harry should be too.”
The Duke of Sussex, 41, is a “harder sell” though, the source admits. “He loves the weather in California, but the move would make sense for him with all his travel to the U.K.”
As of now, “it’s all still in the discussion stages,” says Globe’s source. “But Meghan has very big ideas and plans.”
