Decorating your home can get expensive, especially if you’re working with a smaller budget. That’s why interior designer Megan (@ahousetohomey) recently shared her tips on what’s worth saving on and where it makes sense to splurge when styling your space.

In her video, Megan breaks down exactly which pieces you should invest in and which ones you can cut costs on, and some of her “save” suggestions might just surprise you!

Do you agree with what Megan shared? We were glad to hear that she recommends saving on artwork, which can get very pricey, and even listed a few sites of where you can find quality prints that you can frame yourself.

Rugs are so expensive! But if you’re having to keep repurchasing cheap ones, you might as well save up for a good one that will last for years to come.

Other Ways to Save Money When Styling Your Home

Commenters had some great suggestions for how to save money when purchasing furniture and decor for your home. Like @Petitemamawithcoffee who shared, “Marketplace is where it’s at! Quality antique furniture made of real wood!”

@Mariah saved big in the bedroom, “My headboard is literally a piece of plywood I stained dark and hung on my wall, and it was cheap, and I love it!”

Commenter @Emerson_Bornhoft said, “Yes!!! We bought a cheap rug for our living room not even 6 months ago and it has already faded so bad and has a hole in it! That was $200 down the drain… also, if I might add, don’t buy washable rugs they suck!”

@Lady T also made a great point, “Another thing that I can add, lighting fixtures. I can’t tell you how many houses I walk in at a listing appointment, and they have mismatched fixtures: some gold, some bronze, some old and some new… ugh!” Lighting can definitely make or break the look and feel of a room!
