Enough is enough was the Hotline theme after Sunday’s shameful Old Firm scenes.
One of the most exciting seasons Scottish football has known for decades that’s brought eyes on our game from every corner of the planet was given a brutal reality check when the numbskulls took over at Ibrox.
And fans from across the country, including plenty from both Rangers and Celtic, united to condemn the morons and call for action.
Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “It’s happened before and it’ll happen again, there’s always a minority motivated by pure hate inbred from father to son. Nothing’s changed, sadly it never will.”
Robert Ritchie, Ayr, said: “After the 1980 cup final riot Rangers and Celtic should have received lengthy bans from the competition. Instead measures that affect the whole of Scottish football were brought in. This time the authorities need to severely punish the culprits.”
Alan McPherson, Nairn, said: “After yet another disgraceful disturbance surely the time has come to stop pussyfooting around with fines which have no effect – they should be banned from next season’s competition. Maybe that would bring it home to these morons the severity of their actions which have blighted the Scottish game for years.”
Jamie Thompson, Glasgow, said: “The SFA, police and Scottish Government must keep these disgusting supporters away from Scottish football – all games between these clubs behind closed doors. The hatred both these supporters show is disgusting. They should be ashamed.”
Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: “In the early 90s Celtic fans chased out 200 Celtic casuals who tarnished our name at home and abroad, we were the only big club who managed this and we must do it again for the morons who mock the victims of the Ibrox disaster. Report these sick excuses for human beings to the club. Enough is enough.”
Richard Wharton, Carlisle, said: “I’m old enough to remember when Celtic fans were Celtic supporters and Rangers fans were Rangers supporters. Sadly now there are far too many numbskulls who attach themselves to clubs with little or no regard for anything other than their own stupidity.”
Before the ugly scenes came after pretty minging game of football too. Not that Celtic will care about the nature of their resilient display that saw them progress to the semi finals after a penalty shoot out.

Gers skipper James Tavernier picked himself up from missing the opening spot kick and vowed to fight for the title.
But Peter Cooperwhite emailed: “Now we’ve got more nonsense from Tavernier ‘we can bounce back from the cup exit’ – when or where is this going to happen? If he’s trying to rally us around another poor performance then we’ve been rallying for you all to do better but sadly we’ve flogged this horse too many times and no response.”
Billy Barry, Dundee, said: “It’s absolutely hilarious seeing and hearing Rangers fans wanting Danny Rohl punted after Celtic booted them out of the Scottish Cup. Funnily enough, I could have swore I heard them chanting his name just before half-time in the derby match at Ibrox last Sunday.”
However, Denis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “Even if Celtic complete a miraculous double with the fans cheering the players on, they must keep in their heads how the board almost wrecked that achievement with their cack-handed additions to the squad throughout this season with two honourable exceptions.
“Celebrate the double but refuse to buy season tickets until you know for sure that Celtic’s signing policy has been upgraded with a background staff and manager who can spot players up to wearing the hoops. Anything less would be a slap in the face for the fans.
“Perhaps a change of ownership would be best contemplated as the way forward for the club to maintain its dominance in the SPFL or to resurrect that dominance if it fails on the two fronts currently available to the club.”
