Warning: this article may contain a few spoilers about the Traitors Ireland.

The Traitors Ireland premiered on Sunday night. For many viewers, the central intrigues of episode one were 1) are you related to any of the contestants and similarly 2) do you know any of the contestants?

For anyone who’s seen the UK or Australian version of the programme, there was a genuine curiosity over how the programme’s deception and skulduggery would translate when set in a much smaller country where it feels everyone knows each other.

As it happens, it turns out a few members of the cast are already well-known outside of the programme.

Faye, 27, event co-ordinator

Event planner Faye Lousie Brennan unfortunately found herself in the middle of the GAA Catfish scandal earlier this year.  Brennan explained on her tiktok account how ”Aoife Kennedy” had contacted her in Marbella in the summer of 2023 used her images in online conversations with GAA players. She shared her story in January around the time of the third instalment of the 2 Johnnies ‘GAA Catfish’ episode’ and said she was open to bringing legal action in relation to the incident.

If you’re interested in all of the detail, she explains it all here.

David, 52, craft foreman gardener

Long before he was trying to remember everyone’s name on the cast, David went viral after being reunited with one of his sunglasses lenses at Electric Picnic back in 2020.

“We’re having a Cinderella moment,” Dave said back then before asking for the finder’s name. He was just as genial trying to remember the names of every contestant on the show.

Michelle, 52, sports leader

The most accomplished contestant – in a sporting sense – is undoubtedly Michelle Maher, who is a nineteen-time World Champion in bushido kickboxing.

Maher teaches bushido kickboxing in Ballinteer, and according to linkedin, also does fitness instruction in south Dublin. She had a great reaction to not being picked as a traitor.

Episode two airs tonight on RTÉ One.
