It’s been over 20 years since Ewan McGregor filmed Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and while there are a great many things the prequel star remembers from his time on set, there’s definitely one incident he’ll never forget!
McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) appeared at the 2025 edition of Fan Expo Chicago, during which he recalled the unforgettable occurrence that led to his stunt double knocking out several teeth during a pivotal scene.
When asked whether he remembered any particularly nasty injuries during filming, McGregor recalled how stuntman Nash Edgerton, brother of actor-director Joel Edgerton, managed to injure himself while filming the iconic showdown between Obi-Wan and bounty hunter Jango Fett, on the day that just happened to coincide with his mother’s set visit.

“He was my stunt double for years in Star Wars… His mum was on set to visit and he was doing, you know, the fight in the rain with Jango Fett,” McGregor remembered. “I had to do a big back flip and he landed and he broke his teeth! And he was like, he was so aware that his mum was there that he was just like, “I’m alright mum!'”
McGregor told the crowd that someone escorted Edgerton’s mother away from the grisly scene “for a cup of tea,” which was helpful since her son was “not all right,” according to the star.
“He really hurt himself,” McGregor noted. But, on the bright side, the actor couldn’t recall any “nasty lightsaber injuries,” and added that Edgerton is fine now.
“He’s got lovely teeth,” the Trainspotting star quipped.
Edgerton has over 100 stunt credits to his name, working on high-profile projects like The Equalizer, Matrix Revolutions, and Superman Returns, while also having plenty of experience behind the camera.
But, much like McGregor, he’ll never forget his time in the Star Wars universe. In 2018, Edgerton told IGN, “I grew up in the era of Star Wars, and I grew up at the perfect age when Star Wars came out, so it’s definitely a part of my childhood and always in my mind.”
He went on to gush that being Obi-Wan Kenobi’s stunt double was “awesome,” adding, “Ewan is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever worked with, and just to hold a lightsaber in my hand was awesome.”

McGregor had plenty more fun during his appearance at Fan Expo Chicago when costar Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader) appeared and the onscreen foes reunited for a lightsaber battle.
During his portion of the panel, Christensen looked back on the duo’s most iconic face-off, the duel on Mustafar from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
“The one that Ewan and I did at the end, our battle on Mustafar, that was something that we were really looking forward to getting to do. From the get-go, we knew there was going to be this big battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan that was going to result in this epic lightsaber battle,” Christensen shared.

The actor recalled that he and McGregor “spent a lot of time, months training and practicing, trying to get the fight as good as it could be.” He shouted out fight choreographer Nick Gillard, who “really told a story in that fight. I’m very proud of the work we got to do there.”
McGregor and Christensen have reunited several times over the years, not just for their rematch on Obi-Wan Kenobi, which (spoiler alert) ended in a kind of stalemate.

For fans hopeful to get more in a possible second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, keep the faith alive! During a panel at L.A. Comic Con last year, McGregor shared that he, Lucasfilm, and Disney are all currently “exploring” ideas for a potential second installment of his character’s standalone Disney+ series.
“Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there,” McGregor explained at the time. “We’re definitely hoping, or, well, exploring that, I think would be the word to say.”
Back in 2022, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy similarly told Entertainment Weekly that the idea of continuing Obi-Wan’s story was very much on the table. “It’s certainly something we talk about,” she said, “mainly because everybody came together and had such an incredible time. Ewan had an incredible time. Hayden had an incredible time. So certainly from that point of view, everybody involved would love to see this not end.”
Kennedy continued, “But we have to really spend our time asking the question: Why would we do it? If we were to decide to do anything more with the Obi-Wan character, we’d have to really answer the question why?”
