The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is hosting a special event this week featuring a bunch of beloved Canadian games.
It’s called the “Video Game Arts Appreciation Night” and will be held on Friday, September 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Organized by writer and game developer Jim Munroe in partnership with Game Arts International Network, the event will spotlight behind-the-scenes artwork from a slew of acclaimed Canadian games:
- Balatro — Localthunk (Saskatoon)
- Goodbye Volcano High — KO_OP (Montreal) [artist will be present]
- I Was a Teenage Exocolonist — Northway Games (Vancouver)
- A Little to the Left — Max Inferno (Halifax) [artist will be present]
- Loser Lane — Marie LeBlanc Flanagan (Toronto) [artist will be present]
- South of Midnight — Compulsion Games (Montreal) [artist will be present]
- Tactical Breach Wizards — Suspicious Developments (Vancouver)
- Tunic — Isometricorp (Halifax)
- Venba — Visai Games (Toronto) [artist will be present]
At 7 p.m., Munroe will lead a guided tour through the art, explaining the reasoning for each game’s inclusion while asking the developers about their work.
Video Game Arts Appreciation Night is included at no additional cost with $30 AGO general admission, while Members and Annual Pass holders can enter for free.
