In recent weeks, much has been written about Patrick Kielty and how long his tenure on The Late Late Show will last. And focus has shifted to the unique place the programme, the longest-running live chat show in the world, has in Irish society.
In a Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll last week, 38pc were in favour of the show being scrapped, while 57pc voted that the best presenter was the late Gay Byrne. It’s a little surprising, given that he did not host the show this century.
