Travelling from Ireland to South Africa in a 20-year-old Mitsubishi Pajero is definitely one of the more inventive ways to spend four months, and for Max Lavelle (28) and Brendan Bergin (28), from Kilkenny and Laois respectively, the experience is turning out to be a memorable one.
The two friends are now nearing the end of their African odyssey, which began in mid-January and is expected to end in late April when they reach their final destination of Cape Town, South Africa.
