Former One Direction star Zayn Malik has disclosed he is heartbroken following an emergency hospital admission.
The singer posted a health update on social media, including a photograph of himself in hospital connected to medical equipment.
While stopping short of disclosing the exact nature of his condition, Zayn wrote: “To my fans – Thank you to all of you for your love and support now and always-been a long week and am still unexpectedly recovering. Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week.
“I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding. Thank you to the incredible hospital staff of Drs, nurses, cardiologist, management, admin and everyone who has helped along the way and continue to. You are all legends! Big big love xx z”

In the wake of the announcement, fans were swift to take to social media expressing their worry. One Twitter/X user urged: “Please keep him in your prayers.” Another commented: “Zayn Malik why are you thanking a cardiologist what happened to your heart omg.”
His update arrives days after he left fans gutted by pulling out of a special UK gig at the eleventh hour. The singer had been scheduled for a one-off performance and Q&A session at Banquet Records in Kingston. However, he was compelled to cancel the show just the evening before it was due to take place, reports the Mirror.
On Sunday, Banquet Records broke the news that the show had been called off. They stated the show would be rearranged for a future date. Their social media post read: “Gutted to say Monday’s ZAYN events are postponed due to illness – we send our best wishes for a speedy recovery. We’ll be back to ticket holders later in the coming week. Thanks for your understanding and sorry again for the disappointment.”

Zayn himself also broke his silence on the matter, writing: “I’m sorry but unfortunately I am sick and I won’t be able to make it to the UK this week as planned. We’re already in the process of trying to reschedule the Banquet QandA, and will be sharing new dates soon.
“Working on getting each of your info as well to send you something. Thank you for understanding and continued love and support. Big love xx Zayn.”
