Two people have died following a two-vehicle crash in the Moira area on Saturday evening.

Police received a report shortly before 6pm on Saturday of a collision involving a motorcycle and a car on the Glenavy Road, near Maghaberry.

Officers along with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended, however the drivers of both vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another person was taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

The road, which was closed for a time between the junctions of Soldierstown Road and Hammonds Road, has since reopened.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1142 of 25/04/26.

Meanwhile, police are still at the scene of a separate road incident in the Nutts Corner area of Co Antrim.

The Belfast Road remains closed between the Nutts Corner roundabout and the Ballyhill Road and is likely to be closed for the remainder of the day.

Road users should avoid the area and seek an alternative route for their journey.

Diversions are in place and those travelling to the International Airport have been advised to allow extra time for their journey.

The main Omagh to Dromore Road (A32) is also currently closed in both directions between the Drumlish Road and Clanabogan due to a serious crash on Sunday.

Minor roads in the area are heavily congested as a result of the closure.

Motorists are advised to avoid the immediate area to allow emergency services to work and to prevent further delays and to use alternative routes through Dromore, Drumquin or Fintona.

Emergency services were also called to a serious crash in the Caledon area of Tyrone in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Derrycourtney Road is closed at the junction of the Finglush Road and Knockaginny Road.

Police confirmed diversions are in place and urged road users to avoid the area.
