Sheens Falls near Kenmare

One of Ireland’s most luxurious getaway spots – and arguably the number one dream wedding venue on our island – has made the super-exclusive list of the best hotels in the world.

Sheen’s Falls, by the water in Kenmare, has been included in Travel + Leisure’s influential 2026 500 list of the Best Hotels in the World. The list is alphabetical by region and not ranked.

This follows a string of recent accolades, including being named the Number 1 Resort in Ireland by Travel + Leisure for 2025.

The recognition comes during a landmark year for Sheen Falls Lodge as the five-star Chateaux hotel celebrates 35 years in business under its current guise.

Peter Terzian, Features Editor at Travel + Leisure, described Sheen Falls Lodge as: “The essence of Irish hospitality, tucked in a quiet corner of the southwest. Fall asleep each night to the soothing sound of the falls.”

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Kenmare Bay and framed by the natural beauty of the Ring of Kerry, the Beara Peninsula and the Wild Atlantic Way, Sheen Falls Lodge is also famous as a very exclusive wedding venue.

This year’s Travel + Leisure 500 list is drawn from the results of the 2025 World’s Best Awards and celebrates the hotels and resorts that readers return to time and again for quality, luxury, exceptional service and outstanding amenities. Compiled as a trusted global travel resource, the list is presented in alphabetical order by geographic region and is not a ranked list.

General Manager Brian Loughnane said: “We are honoured to be recognised by Travel + Leisure in the 2026 500 list of the best hotels in the world. To receive this accolade in the same year that Sheen Falls Lodge marks its 35-year anniversary makes it especially meaningful. This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our exceptional team, whose passion for hospitality and outstanding guest experiences continues to define everything we do.”
