Britain’s Got Talent delivered a shock as Stacey Solomon appeared in the crowd, prepared to witness her golden buzzer act perform.

The 36-year-old stepped onto the judging panel as a replacement for Simon, who was absent during the opening day of audition filming. Stacey is well-versed in talent competitions, having secured third place in The X Factor’s 2009 series.

She eventually selected her golden buzzer moment when Braunstone Community Primary School’s choir transformed into a rave sensation, prompting her to swiftly hit the buzzer and advance them to the next stage, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Initially attempting to conceal her new position, Stacey had previously revealed: “I’ve last minute been asked to do an absolutely dream job today so Rose and me are going to get ready and head up there because it’s something she will love too. Genuinely so excited to do this and can’t believe I’ve been asked [tears face emoji].”

She then took to Instagram, posting a photograph of the BGT judging desk and stage, with her name illuminated, and wrote: “What in the alternate universe is going on?”

On Saturday (May 2), the ITV talent competition returned for its second week of live semi-finals.

Just as Ant and Dec greeted the judges and audience, they declared: “I’ve spotted somebody in our studio audience” before dashing over to Stacey. Stacey was seated alongside two of her children and husband Joe Swash.

Positioned in the audience to witness her golden buzzer act, Braunstone Community Primary School, she remarked: “I cannot wait to watch them. I know they’re gonna have the time of their lives out there and that’s what this show is all about to me.

“I feel so honoured to be here and I’ve loved every second of it, good luck everyone tonight” as the crowd applauded her and Joe’s return to the studio.

Last week, the semi-final launched amid controversy as Ant and Dec referenced the drama surrounding Sinitta’s walkout during the I’m a Celebrity South Africa live final.

They didn’t hesitate to mock the awkwardness from the night before. Announcing there was “nothing better” than live television, Dec then took a swipe at Sinitta’s dramatic exit from her chair.

Ant then declared: “We had quite enough drama on the telly last night. Can you please, you four, be on your best behaviour.” Dec then quipped: “If you misbehave, you’ll be out quicker than Sinitta.”
