Donald Trump seemingly appeared to doze off at an event where he was surrounded by children. Viewers expressed their concern after the president closed his eyes during a signing ceremony in the Oval Office.
Trump thanked Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but as Kennedy spoke about how “grateful” he was for Trump’s decision to restore the fitness test, a viewer claimed the president fell asleep.
An X user wrote: “You have got to be kidding me. Trump falls asleep while his guest brags about the president having mental fitness.
His face is literally drooping and he is about to drool on his desk. The SNL sketches write themselves.”
Social media users reacted to the moment caught live on air.
One claimed: “He is beyond gone.” Another wrote: “Stay up all night rage posting and you fall asleep during the day.”
A third queried: “Can’t believe he is sleeping.”
While a fourth added: “This is getting beyond ridiculous and disgraceful!!”
The on-air blunder comes just one day after Trump boasted about his performance on a cognitive screening test.
Speaking on Monday at the White House Small Business Summit, Trump said he has taken the Montreal Cognitive Assessment three times and “aced each one,” claiming a doctor told him it was the first time they had seen a perfect score.
“The first question is very easy,” he crowed. “You have a lion, a bear, an alligator, and a, what’s another good..? A squirrel. Which is the squirrel?” He then insisted the difficulty ramps up considerably. “By the time you get to the middle, they’re very tough.”
