EastEnders has confirmed a major character return for next week, with Jasmine Fisher getting crushing news in the process. Viewers will know that she recently faced a trial for the murder of her biological dad Anthony, and was found not guilty.

Before the trial kicked off, however, the soap saw the exit of Patrick, who recorded a video statement for the CPS in advance amid his family’s concern over the potential heavy toll the court proceedings could take on him.

As such, he went to Trinidad to visit son Isaac – though his exit was always planned to be temporary.

Patrick’s return to Walford will take place next week, with a changed landscape as Jasmine is now part of the Slaters in the wake of the verdict, while the Truemans have been less forgiving – even while Yolande has suggested a sit-down conversation when her husband is back.

In the new scenes, Patrick is back in Albert Square and decides to take his family for a drink at The Vic. He also manages to have a chat with Jasmine.

However, he admits to his granddaughter that he doesn’t trust her and that their relationship will take time, leaving her heartbroken.

Will the two be able to get back on track after everything that has happened?
